Performance:

* Prithviraj as Aadhi did a great job. His subtle acting and sharpness in acting worked out well to emote his emotions and feelings of what the character faced in his childhood and the present way. His combo scenes with Bhaskar (Nandu), worked out well.

* Rahman as Damodar Ratnam did a good performance and he didn't got more scope for acting.

* Isha Talwar as Seema was quite a surprise. She was not any glamorous kind of role instead, a mature character who's a mother of a teenager. And her lip sync was also matching.

* Nandu as Bhaskar did his best performance. His dialogue delivery and body language shown the helplessness of a father, of a uncle.

* Debutants Mathew Arun and Celine Joseph as Aju and Deepika respectively did a good job in acting and their roles were memorable.

Technical Aspects

* Written and Directed by Nirmal Sahadev. He has done a brilliant job, he strike the right chord. The way he executed the film doesn't seemed like his debut film. He has driven the screenplay more into the emotion of the characters in the movie. The only factor that falls down a bit is the depth of the story. He manages to make the audience sit from the beginning of the movie starting from the history of Detroit till the end credits. The screenplay and dialogues were apt for the film especially the scene at pre-climax were Aadhi and Bhaskar had an emotional conversation.

* DoP by Jigme Tenzing was awesome. He has brilliantly captured the beauty of Detroit streets and director's vision.

* Music and Background Music by Jakes Bejoy needs a special mention. Right from the beginning of the film, till the end of the movie, he sets the mood of the film. Theme Song and Pathiye were the best and their picturisation was good.

* Editing and DI by Sreejith Sarang was good. The cuts and colors were synced into the film.

* Other departments like Sound designing and recording, Visual effects, Production designing did their best for the film.

A still from the movie.

Final Verdict : Ranam isn't a typical action or crime movie. It depicts the other side of lives of American NRI's who are trapped in a maze of crime and their tries of survival. I recommend the movie but still not everyone's cup of tea.
