Meyaadha Maan (translation: Deer that doesn't graze) is a 2017 Tamil musical romantic comedy movie written and directed by debutant Rathna Kumar under the production of renowned Tamil director Karthik Subbaraj's Stone Bench Films. Starring "Mankatha" fame Vaibhav and Priya Bhavani Shankar in lead roles.
Teaser:
"Idhayam" Murali (Vaibhav) had a one-side crush with Madhu (Priya) and he couldn't express his feelings towards her. When she decided to get married, he couldn't accept the news and decided to suicide. He called his friends to inform about his attempt and how his friends gonna save him from suicide and then follows the rest of the story.
Performance:
* Vaibhav as Murali was the soul of this film as a singer of his own band, a brother, a friend and as a lover boy. He succeeded in portraying emotions naturally and effortlessly within his limited capacity.
* Priya Bhavani Shankar as Madhumitha aka Madhu did a good job but too she could concentrate more on some of the emotional scenes. Her portion with Vaibhav, his friends and with his sister were good.
* Vivek Prasanna as Vinoth, best friend of Murali, did his portion apt for the role. His role was quite different from his previous films like Sethupathy and Vikram Vedha. He had a meaty role and did his role well.
* Indhuja as Sudarvizhi did a fine performance. The character had scopes to be spoiled with overacting but she doesn't spoiled it. Overall her performance was fine.
Technical Aspects:
* Written and Directed by Rathna Kumar did a fabulous job in both the fields. His writing was flawless and fine and the comedies were naturally synced with the movie. There were few force-fitted kind of scenes in this movie even though it was okay. To witness the talent of the director, it's visible from the first song, pre-interval and few scenes where direction excelled more than the screenplay.
Trailer Link:
* Music by Santhosh Narayanan and Pradeep Kumar did good job. There were seven songs which were mixed with local kuthu songs and feel good romantic songs. The best songs were the Area Song, Thangachi Song, Address Song and Nee Mattum Song. None of them were forcefully added. Background Music also synced with the movie. * DoP by Vidhu Ayanna did a great job in his debut film itself. The raw and flawless shots and frames made the movie more creative especially for the songs, they were shot well. The pre-interval one shot scene was one of the best shots in this film. The emotion of characters were perfectly shown in the film without any flaws.
* Editing by Shafiq Mohammed Ali did his best in cropping the film into fresh content. His cuts and transitions were good and sometimes it flattered in some part. Overall, his work was above average.
* Other departments did their best to make the movie more realistic, natural and enjoyable one.
Final Verdict: Watch Meyaadha Maan for light hearted romantic film with natural and situational comedies without any twists and turns.
