Performance:

* Sivakarthikeyan as Arivu did a fine performance. Unlike his previous films, his character was more serious and emotional, and he did it with an ease. He was the one of the soul of the film and was well-utilized.

* Fahadh Faasil as Aadhi , his debut performance in Tamil has nailed it. He made an impact on his performance. His subtle acting and dialogue delivery were perfect and he excelled than the protagonist in some of the key scenes.

* Nayanthara as Mrilalini did a good job. She was charming, did a good acting, her scenes as romantic pair of Siva was synced but her character was minimal.

* Other actors did their character well.

Technical Aspects:

* Written and Directed by Mohan Raja did a great job. His direction was fine. He succeeded in delivering a strong social message with less masala elements and was hard-hitting. He managed to keep the audience entertained throughout the film. The script was the backbone of this film but was above average. The climax part could have moulded a bit more better even though it had an satisfactory climax.

* DoP by Ramji was fine. His angles and shots were pretty good especially the slum scenes and the opening song was did well.

* Production Designing by T. Muthuraj deserves a special mention especially his sets of slum were awesome.

* Editing by Ruben and Vivek Harshan was above average. The cuts and transitions were fine but losts the intensity of few scenes. It could have been concentrated.

* Music by Anirudh was pretty cool. Opening slum song and "Iraiva" song was the best of the whole album. Every song was fitted perfectly in the film. The background score also worked well but the scores of few scenes went flattered.

* Other technical departments was fine and did a good job as well.

Final Verdict: Velaikkaran is a good entertainer that also makes you think as a consumer.
